How Managers Become Leaders (30 minutes)
  • Few career transitions are more difficult than leading an enterprise for the first time.
  • The range of activities you undertake as a leader/manager are substantial with the result that the variety of skills needed to succeed is broad.
  • In this workshop we’ll talk about one of the thorniest challenges leaders face: stepping into their first role running a whole enterprise.
  • We will discuss information gleaned from  executives, leadership mentors, and HR professionals and then explain the key changes new leaders need to make.
  • It’s a much bigger job than leading a function—and a lot more complex.
  • Understandably, executives tend to feel overwhelmed and uncertain when they make this big move.
  • To succeed, they have to shift their focus and develop new skills and ways of thinking.
  • A thorough understanding of how to navigate this transition can prepare managers for success.
Hidden traps in Effective Decision making as a Leader. (30 minutes)
  • Where do bad decisions come from?
  • With business decisions, there aren’t any no-brainers.
  • Our minds are always at work, sometimes in ways that trip us up.
  • When things go wrong—the strategy fails, the new hire doesn’t live up to expectations, the new product doesn’t sell—it’s tempting to blame the decision-making process.
  • But often we make bad decisions because mental distortions and biases sabotage our reasoning.
  • Learn about the 8 pitfalls that anyone can find themselves in and how to find effective ways to deal with them.
