Michael B. Habib and Peter J. Sitaras join Jones Foster as associates in its West Palm Beach office. “Our firm’s growth has always been incremental and intentional, and the addition of Michael and Peter positions us well to maintain our bench strength in a market that is seeing an increased need for sophisticated litigation representation,” said Chairman Scott G. Mr. Habib's practice will focus on representing businesses and individuals in a wide range of complex commercial litigation matters. He brings extensive experience in the state and federal court system with the completion of three judicial clerkships, including serving as a Staff Attorney to Justice C. Alan Lawson of the Florida Supreme Court; a federal Pro Se Law Clerk to Chief Judge Cecilia M. Altonaga and Judges Beth F. Bloom, Robert N. Scola, Jr., Robin L. Rosenberg, Aileen M. Cannon, and Kenneth A. Marra; and most recently as a Judicial Law Clerk to U.S. Magistrate Judge Marta F. Elfenbein of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
Mr. Habib earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law before obtaining a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree in Global Health Law and a Certificate in U.S. Health Law from Georgetown University Law Center where he was a Global Health Scholar. During law school, Mr. Habib served as a research and teaching assistant and as president of the Middle Eastern Law Student Association.
Mr. Sitaras will focus his practice in the areas of complex commercial litigation and civil litigation. His previous experience includes litigating class actions, federal appeals, and real estate and business disputes, as well as handling matters related to intellectual property, international arbitration, medical malpractice, and personal injury law.
Mr. Sitaras graduated magna cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law and was awarded membership in the prestigious Order of the Coif. During law school, Mr. Sitaras served as a research assistant and as a member of the International Moot Court Board where he competed in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot. He also gained valuable experience as a legal intern for the Miami Regional Office of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Mr. Sitaras is a recipient of the Dean’s Certificate of Achievement Award in Intellectual Property for Business Lawyers and was named a Dean’s Fellow in Property and Torts.
